  • Charles E. Hiss, DVM

    Dr. Hiss graduated from Purdue University in 1983 and has practiced in Kokomo since graduation. Dr. Hiss enjoys clinical practice because it allows him to develop relationships with his patients and clients. He is a member of the Indiana Veterinary Medical Association and the American Veterinary Medical Association. Dr. Hiss has the wonderful ability to make the toughest scenarios understandable. He takes the time to explain and demonstrate to our clients so that we all end up on the same page at the end of visits. He has been married to his wife, Nancy, since 1981, and they have one daughter, Megan. Hobbies outside of work include family activities, golf, sporting events and spending time with the family pets (2 pugs and 1 cat).

  • Dr. Byerly

    Carrie Byerly, DVM

    Dr. Byerly received her DVM in 2009 from Purdue University School of Veterinary Medicine. She practiced in Iowa for 5 years before returning to Indiana to practice with us here in Kokomo. She has a special interest in surgery and loves getting to know her patients and clients personally. Dr. Byerly has quickly gained the hearts of our clients by being honest, friendly, and of course compassionate! She has been married to her husband, Nate, for 5 years and they have two children Clara and Joseph. They have one cat, Ferdinand Boots (named by Clara). In her spare time, she enjoys running, gardening, spending time with her family, and craft projects.

    Nancy Hiss, Hospital Administrator

    Nancy has been overseeing the administrative needs of Pet Care Clinic since 2006. After graduating from Purdue University in 1980, she married Dr. Hiss in 1981. Kokomo has been their home since Dr. Hiss started practicing in 1983. One of the many perks of being in the office is getting to hold the puppies and kittens that come in to see the doctors! She is proud of the clinic's great staff and the quality of service everyone provides to the clients. Nancy is the backbone of our clinic and makes sure that we all stay healthy and happy! She enjoys spending time with friends and family and attending athletic events for her daughter, Megan! Her pugs and kitty keep her busy at home; she loves to spoil her pets.

    Amanda, Office Manager

    Amanda has been with the clinic since 2007 and couldn't imagine being anywhere else. She has always worked in customer service but is so happy to have ended up at Pet Care Clinic where she gets to mix together helping people and pets. Amanda believes that the people that make up Pet Care Clinic are the most loyal and compassionate workers she has ever met.  Amanda currently spends her time away from work studying to become a Certified Veterinary Practice Manager. She spends her left over free time with her husband and best friend, Ryan and their son. She also has a cat, Comma, that can do lots of tricks when he isn't eating everything in sight. Things she enjoys are reading and acting silly with her family.

  • Tammy, Veterinary Assistant, Staff Liaison, & Inventory Management

    Tammy has been a vet assistant for going on 2 decades. She finds it rewarding to care for animals and enjoys seeing the human to animal bond, especially when our clients consider their pets true furry family members.
    Tammy brings incredible experience to the table and our whole staff respects her greatly. Tammy has a daughter and 3 step sons, all of which have "flown the nest". She and her husband, Monty, enjoy riding their Harley, going to festivals, and watching reality TV shows...Oh! and spending time with their pets of course! They have 1 dogs, 4 cats, and an aquarium full of fish.

  • Lauren

    Lauren, Veterinary Assistant

    Lauren originally worked for us over the summers after her freshman and sophomore years at Purdue where she has now graduated with a Bachelor in Animal Sciences. After that she got her boots dirty working as a livestock manager on a farm outside of West Lafayette. Now that she has moved back to Kokomo she is very excited to once again be working with the wonderful people (both clients & staff) here at Pet Care Clinic. In her spare time she loves swimming, horseback riding and relaxing with her dog, Tank and two cats, Sheldon and Amy.

    Harlie graduated from Vet Tech Institute in December of 2015 with an Associate's Degree in Applied Sciences. She completed her externship at Frankfort Animal Hospital and then we were lucky enough to receive her resume & application! Harlie will be sitting for her exam to become a Registered Veterinary Technician at the end of March. She enjoys horseback riding and volunteering at Agape Therapeutic Riding Barn. During her free time she enjoys watching movies and relaxing with her dog Holly and two cats, Morris and Zoey.

    Cheyenne, Front Desk Team Leader & Social Media Coordination

    Cheyenne graduated in May 2014 with a double major in Business Marketing and Business Management. While she decides what to do with her degree, she enjoys working for Pet Care Clinic. You'll find her Facebook posts for the clinic to be educational, clever, and fun-loving. Her favorite things here are her co-workers and getting to hold some of the puppies that come in! In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her family, watching movies and loving on her dog, Mimzy.

    Kaleb, Front Desk Associate

    Kaleb is currently attending Ivy Tech in Kokomo to earn his degree in medical assisting. He enjoys all of his co-workers here at Pet Care Clinic and the fun of meeting all of the animals. Our clients enjoy his compassion, his manners, and his respect for their pets. Kaleb has owned over 15 animals in his life. In his spare time he likes to be with friends and family, listen to music, and travel.

    We are so fortunate to have an ambitious young woman like Lily on our team. She plans to pursue a future in veterinary medicine at Purdue University next year. In the mean time, she is the president of her senior class, a member of National Honor Society, and is involved in sports too!

    Brittany - Kennel Attendant

    Brittany is another new staff member with a bright future. She is currently a Junior in high school who plans on attending college either at Purdue or the Vet Tech Institute in or order to become a Registered Veterinary Technician. She is a member of the Kokomo Color Guard. Her love for animals started when she was very young; therefore we are lucky to have her on our team where every patient is so important!

    Erica was one of our student workers that assisted us with our evening duties and has filled in on the front desk as well. She is now moving on with her future studies at Purdue University. We are happy to see a girl with a very bright future moving towards her goals. Erica may return to assist us on weekends and during school breaks.
